Green Lake Community Centre

Let's do it together!

ABOUT US
We've changed with the times!

We used to be the Green Lake Snowmobile club ... but as of March 2025, we are now officially the Green Lake Community Centre and Outdoor Recreation Society.

We will embrace all manner of activities in all 4 seasons around our community, whether you live on North Green Lake, South Green Lake, or the surrounding areas.
ATV'ing, dirt biking, water skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, cross country skiing, (and snowmobiling too, of course) - you name it, we'd like to include you!
If your group would like to host an event or gathering at the Centre, contact us.

Indoors at the hall, there will still be yoga, games nights, and pot luck dinners.   Other activities are in the works too, such as photography workshops and more.  Or, you can rent the hall and kitchen for your own group event!

Your suggestions for things to do indoors or out are welcome! Please drop us a note on the 'contact us' page.

We hope this change will encourage greater membership, broader involvement, and be the basis for a stronger community overall.

Change is good!

Check back often for the latest updates!

Potluck Dinner at the Centre- doors open at 5pm.
Please bring an appie, a main dish, side dish or dessert.
Members are free, and guests are 5$ each.
The conveners are Kris Alexander, Diane Sullivan, and Jenny Gehl.
They hope to have a nice door prize available.

Can you help?
Set up for the event will take place on Thursday the 27th, 11:00am at the
G L Community Centre.
Please contact Jenny Gehl if you can volunteer.

Dates and times for trail clearing will be posted here.
Highlights;

- Elections were held for 3 Board positions.  Results as follows:
President - Doug Brown elected
Vice President - Warren Lowe elected
Director - Dunham Craig elected

- Modification to the new Community Centre name:
Green Lake Community Centre and Outdoor Recreation Society
Motion passed.
- Insurance costs still being researched.
- New website launched and is now live.
- New metal sign being made for the outside Kiosk in front of the hall.

Thank you to all who attended!

Jack Keough chaired the meeting, and offered some comments about the Snowmobile Club's need for a new direction.
Two motions were presented;
  1. To change the name from Green Lake Snowmobile Club to Green Lake Community Centre.
  2. To adopt new purposes and bylaws into the constitution.
Both motions were passed after discussion by the members.

These changes legally broaden the scope of our activities on the trails and in the hall.  As members of the Community Centre, it will be more inviting and inclusive for different groups to organize their interests and utilize the hall.

Since the current snowmobile season has already begun, it was decided to finish this season under the old constitution.  Once this season is completed, the paperwork and fees will be submitted to the Registrar of Societies, and we can begin to operate under the new constitution.

Many of the finer details still need to be worked out, but the directors will be tackling these items during the year.
